Job Title: Electrical Engineer Salary: Up to £42,000 Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Type: Permanent // Full Time Work Hours: 4 on, 4 off shift pattern (04:45am – 16:45pm) Immediate Start Available Overview: The Flavour Network has partnered with a leading UK food processor to recruit an Electrical Engineer on a permanent, 4 on, 4 off day shift pattern. As Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining factory production premises, plant, and equipment, ensuring safety and good working order. This includes responding to breakdowns, conducting pre-start checks, and monitoring machinery for potential issues. You’ll perform remedial work or report issues to management, adhere to Health and Safety and Food Hygiene policies, and complete audits as required. Preventative maintenance and safety risk monitoring are key, along with managing contractors and completing risk assessments. Collaboration with production, technical, hygiene, and management teams is essential. Responsibilities for the Electrical Engineer: Ensure all factory premises, plant, and equipment are properly maintained and in good working order. Respond to breakdowns promptly and complete all associated documentation. Conduct pre-start checks on production equipment daily. Continuously monitor machinery performance during shifts, identifying any issues in output, waste, or quality. Troubleshoot potential equipment failures and either resolve them on-site or report to the Engineering Manager with recommended solutions. Adhere to the company’s Health and Safety and Food Hygiene policies. Record and audit maintenance actions in line with management timelines. Prevent production downtime through planned preventative maintenance. Conduct risk assessments prior to maintenance tasks and ensure safety protocols are followed. Ensure equipment is returned to production in a fully safe condition. Oversee contractors working on-site and complete necessary work permits. Attend relevant training sessions to stay up to date with industry practices. Work closely with production, technical, hygiene, and management teams to maintain a collaborative approach. Requirements for the Electrical Engineer: 3 Years of Engineering experience NVQ Level 3 or Higher in Electrical / Mechanical subject HNC in Mechanical Engineering or ONC in Electrical Engineering (preferred) Minimum. Time-served or apprentice-trained in electrical and mechanical engineering. 17th or 18th Edition Certification. Proficient in reading electrical diagrams and understanding electrical regulations. Strong multi-skilled engineering background with a focus on electrical systems. Knowledge of inverter systems and FMCG environments. Experience with thermoforming machines, grinders, ice printers, high-speed labelling machines, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Competent in TIG welding. Fault-finding and troubleshooting skills. Computer literate. Own tools (toolbox provided by the company). Enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated. Proactive, with a systematic approach to problem-solving.
