It is an exciting time in Thanet’s regeneration journey, having secured significant investment through central Government funding programmes to deliver a diverse range of activities to support economic growth and the regeneration of our district. The Thanet District Council is looking for an excellent communicator and team player to provide additional and targeted capacity to the Regeneration project team during a busy time of delivery, ensuring that stakeholders and residents are kept informed on project progress.
The programme of projects includes capital property based schemes and revenue based social regeneration schemes, amounting to over £54m of investment for the district to be delivered by end March 2026.
The hours of work for this position are 22 hours per week. This is a 1 year fixed term post to coincide with the deadline for delivery of the council’s Pathfinder programme of Levelling Up and Town Deal funded projects. There is a requirement from time to time to attend meetings and engagement events outside of the normal working week hours.
Tasks will include:
1. Coordinating internal and external communications and events related to the council's regeneration activities and projects.
2. Coordinating updates to go out through the council’s various communication channels including but not limited to; resident, councillor and staff newsletters and various stakeholder groups.
3. Supporting project leads in writing draft content, surveys, and reports.
4. Ensuring project web pages are kept updated using WordPress and update and manage regeneration pages on Your Voice Thanet.
5. Maintaining project image galleries and visual content.
6. Coordinating public and stakeholder engagement activities and events relating to the regeneration projects, whether this be in person engagement events and/or using the council’s online engagement platform, Your Voice Thanet.
7. Creating and maintaining a pipeline of communications, formal consultation, and engagement activities for the regeneration projects and liaise with the Communications team regarding these activities in a timely manner, taking into account internal processes and lead times.
8. Producing and updating the team’s risk assessment in relation to engagement events and activities, including supporting risk management actions as agreed by the project lead, to ensure the safe delivery of events.
9. Maintaining records of communications, engagement, and consultation activities undertaken for the projects, including maintaining databases.
10. Designing surveys in liaison with project leads. Collate feedback and produce reports to evidence how public and stakeholder engagement informs projects.
11. Gathering statistics and produce reports to evidence the success of planned communications and engagement activity to include, but not be limited to; funders reports, reach on social media, mailing list sign ups, footfall at engagement events and survey responses.
12. Maintaining the regeneration team’s stakeholder mailing lists, in line with GDPR.
We are ideally looking for someone with experience of working in a similar role who can integrate quickly with the project team and hit the ground running.
The post holder must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with partner organisations, funders, stakeholders, and residents.
