We are excited to be seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our Board of Trustees with a specialism in fundraising. This pivotal role will provide strategic guidance to our fundraising efforts, ensuring we continue to raise the vital funds needed to support exceptional care for our patients and their families.

Role Overview (Unremunerated Volunteer Position)
* As a Trustee you will play a vital role in ensuring our charity fulfils its purpose for the public benefit.
* You will help safeguard the good name and values of Dorothy House, ensuring effective administration and responsible management of resources.
* Your strategic input will be crucial in guiding the organisation's direction, setting policies, defining goals, and evaluating performance.
* Additionally, you will assist in appointing and monitoring the Chief Executive's performance.
Key Responsibilities
You will be instrumental in shaping and evolving our fundraising strategy to support the sustainable growth of Dorothy House. Strenthening the Board's expertise in this area, you will ensure that fundraising remains a core element of our organisational strategy.
You will:
* Offer strategic guidance on fundraising approaches, supporting the development of innovative and sustainable income-generation initiatives.
* Engage with Trustees, the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, particularly the Director and Head of Fundraising, to enhance fundraising capabilities and effectiveness.
* Attend the Finance & Performance Committee, a board sub-committee that meets quarterly, to provide oversight and scrutiny of fundraising strategy and performance.
* Champion best practices in fundraising and income generation, identifying opportunities to enhance operational impact.
* Utilise your fundraising network to access sector innovations and best practices, supporting Dorothy House in staying ahead of emerging trends.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking someone with:
* Extensive strategic fundraising experience at an executive level across a diverse fundraising portfolio.
* A proven track record of successful fundraising strategy development and implementation within the charity sector.
* Strong knowledge of emerging fundraising trends, digital innovation, and new income-generation opportunities.
* Commercial acumen and the ability to identify key performance metrics that drive sustainable revenue.
* Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
* Experience in strategic development, transformation, and effective implementation.
* A commitment to palliative care and an understanding of the Dorothy House geographical area.
Time Commitment
The role requires in-person attendance at quarterly board meetings (3 hours) at Winsley House and Strategy Away Days held off-site twice annually.
You will also attend relevant board sub-committee meetings quarterly, which may be held virtually, and participate in ad-hoc meetings and wider engagement activities as needed.
Appointment Details
* The term is for 3 years, renewable up to a maximum of 9 years (3 x 3-year terms).
* Interviews for this role are to be held on Friday 6th June 2025 (afternoon).
