Import/Export Specialist Overview
We are seeking an experienced Import and Export Specialist to join our team at a privately owned freight company based in Weston Super Mare. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in freight forwarding operations, with a strong understanding of road freight and sea freight operations, groupage, FCL, LCL, and customs brokerage processes for import and export.
Import/Export Specialist Responsibilities
1. Coordinate and manage import and export operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
2. Arrange and track road freight and sea freight, groupage, FCL, and LCL shipments.
3. Oversee customs clearance and ensure proper documentation for both import and export processes.
4. Communicate with international clients and suppliers to facilitate the smooth transportation of goods.
5. Handle any issues related to import and export logistics, providing timely solutions.
6. Stay updated on industry regulations and market trends to optimise import and export processes.
Experience Required
1. Proven experience in import and export operations, preferably in a freight forwarding environment.
2. In-depth knowledge of road freight and sea freight operations, groupage, FCL, LCL, and customs procedures.
3. Strong understanding of import and export regulations and documentation requirements.
4. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with international partners.
5. Proficient in relevant software and systems for tracking and managing import and export shipments.
6. Certification in import/export customs regulations and procedures is a plus.
7. Knowledge of international trade.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient import and export processes.
2. Communicate with international partners to track and manage shipments.
3. Stay informed about changes in import and export regulations and adjust processes accordingly.
4. Provide guidance and support to colleagues on customs and import/export documentation.
5. Analyse import and export data to identify opportunities for optimisation and cost savings.
6. Ensure customer satisfaction by providing timely and accurate information on import and export logistics.
