GSL Education are currently recruiting for a nurturing and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a committed team within a welcoming school setting in Fareham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong sense of empathy and resilience who is eager to positively impact the educational experiences of pupils requiring additional support.
About the role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting pupils across various age groups who face a range of learning and developmental challenges, such as autism spectrum disorder, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support to meet individual pupils' SEN requirements.
* Assist with the development and implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans.
* Encourage students to build confidence, independence, and engagement with learning.
* Implement behaviour management strategies and support pupils in regulating emotions.
* Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to ensure holistic support.
* Prepare resources and adapt lesson content to accommodate diverse learning needs.
* Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to relevant staff.
Job Requirements:
* Prior experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational or care environment is essential.
* Strong knowledge of various special needs and effective support strategies.
* Empathetic, calm, and patient disposition, with the ability to adapt in challenging situations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Support or SEN-specific training are desirable.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
