Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual with experience of working with technology-based equipment who would enjoy working in a challenging and busy environment. The post holder will provide technical and practical support to facilitate the delivery of simulation-based education (SBE) for the Medical Education Department. The Medical Education Department is responsible to provide a wide range of medical education services to meet the requirements of the General Medical Council, Health Education England, Kent Surrey and Sussex (HEE KSS), associated Medical Schools and the Trust. The successful candidate will require IT skills as well as a high level of communication and interpersonal skills. They will be required to work effectively as part of a team as well as on their own initiative. They need to be able to multi-task and quickly adapt to changing situations. Experience of working in a Higher/Further Education environment or the NHS would be an advantage. A willingness to learn new skills and take on challenges will be required. Being reliable, organised and able to problem solve with excellent time management skills will be key attributes of the successful candidate. The job involves working cross site in both Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells according to the simulation training schedule. There will be a requirement for the post holder to be flexible in their working arrangements. The position is for 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Main duties of the job The Simulation & Clinical Skills Technician will work as a member of the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Medical Education (MTWme) Team to support the delivery and growth of Simulation Based Education (SBE). The role demands a high level of technical, administrative and communication skills that will support all aspects of Simulation. The post holder will be working cross site to ensure the maintenance of the Simulation suites and clinical skills rooms are upheld. There is a requirement to input information into the Simulation database and operate the computer and audio/video (A/V) technology, including all manikins and Simulation suite equipment. Setting up and taking down the manikins and clinical skills equipment for specific training sessions will be required. The post holder will have responsibility for the preparation of the training environments, managing equipment stock levels, maintaining equipment and ensuring resources are available for all training programmes. This position involves working closely with the Simulation Lead and Simulation Faculty to provide a safe, well equipped skills training environment.
