UK IT Terminal Operating Systems Administrator
Job Description
We currently have an excellent opportunity for an IT Terminal Operating Systems (TOS) Administrator to join our team in Stanford-Le-Hope. This role is in charge of assisting the Systems Team in ensuring that the integrated terminal system solutions are properly tested and operational within the agreed-upon timelines while meeting the business requirements. To also help the Systems manager and be a member of the Systems team for testing, integration, commissioning, and go-live preparations for all systems required for the automated terminal.
About The Role
How will you contribute:
1. Provide inputs to the development of strategy, policy, and standards for their specific areas of expertise.
2. Proactively engage with the user community to collect information about problems and lead users through diagnostic procedures to determine the source of error for simple problems. More complex problems are referred to supervision.
3. Answer inquiries regarding the status on resolving generic IT and specific business application problems.
4. Actively contribute to the execution of the project identified by the Business Systems & Applications based on the initiatives from the management team and ensure that the business applications are scalable and ready for future expansions.
5. Contribute to the implementation of projects/tasks within the defined scope, time, and budget within the framework of Company Policies.
6. Configure, install, and maintain future versions and releases of the TOS, its specific modules, and its interfaces with other applications.
7. Achieve the individual objectives set for the Business Systems and Applications stream.
8. Proactively maintain, support, and execute the day-to-day administration and operational support for TOS.
9. Execute the implementation and support of TOS and its interface with other business applications.
10. Provide inputs to the implementation of the Application portfolio - ERP and other applications when applicable.
11. Contribute to the infrastructure implementation within the TOS requirement inputs.
12. Execute the IT Business Application configurations and specifications for deployment/commissioning of container terminal-specific equipment (Yard cranes, Quay Cranes, Shuttle Carriers, Rail equipment, gates, etc.) in collaboration with the maintenance, engineering, and facility management teams.
13. Install, modify, and make minor repairs to applications, and provide technical assistance and training to system users.
14. Load specified application packages into the computer.
15. Respond to department inquiries concerning systems operation, application-related problems, and user/operator problems.
16. Review Terminal Operating system (Navis), monitor, and document best practices across Operations teams.
17. Continually monitor, identify, and implement changes that can further improve operations.
What will you Bring.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
1. Proven experience working with Navis TOS system.
2. 3-4 years’ experience within a similar role.
3. Experience working with a maritime or logistics sector would be preferred.
4. Zodiac experience would be beneficial.
5. Proven practical experience working with Navis TOS system.
6. Writing detailed requirement and functional specifications for complex business needs.
7. A proven track record of successful project implementation of the TOS system.
8. Good knowledge of the IT environment.
9. Experience with Business Process Modeling.
10. Ability to take on any operational requirements, turn them into business processes.
11. Experience in Incident Investigation.
12. Able to devise IT test plans and implement them, including training users.
13. Able to create documentation and training material if needed.
14. Be able to work within a team, especially as needed to meet challenging deadlines.
15. Work effectively under pressure.
16. Good communication skills with the ability to work with Operations and IT staff.
NOTE: All our roles are subject to the below:
1. Eligibility to work in the UK.
2. Ability to travel to our other port when necessary.
3. We may close our roles early, depending on the number of applications received.
4. A full valid UK driving licence or appropriate international licence allowing you to drive on UK roads.
5. No unspent criminal convictions.
