Operations Manager - Main Contractor
Decarbonisation & Retrofit Projects - Social Housing
Salary: Up to £75,000 + Package + Bonus scheme
My client is an established construction contractor currently recruiting for an Operations Manager to run one of their branches. This is a new division, and you will be managing £4-7m per annum of decarbonisation/retrofit projects.
The Role:
Within this role, you will work alongside a commercial manager ensuring P&L, budgets, and deadlines are met. You will be responsible for ensuring the level of service and quality is to the highest standard, as well as cost control, creating CPP & programming of works, and budgeting. Implement strong H&S practices. Your direct team will include management, supervisors, operatives, and office staff. You will report directly to the divisional director who will support you in making the contract a success.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have extensive building knowledge and experience managing the delivery of decarbonisation and retrofit projects. Understanding of processes, legislation, experience managing multiple site teams, strategic planning of projects, and an ability to problem-solve in complex situations are essential. A good knowledge of up-to-date legislation and strong organisational skills are also desired.
Desired Skillset/Experience:
1. Experience in retrofit, EWI/IWI/CWI, ASHPs, Solar Panels, Loft Insulation, Roofing, Heat pumps, ground pumps.
2. IT skills are essential; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
3. Full UK Driving Licence.
4. Building or refurbishment related qualification or demonstrable experience.
5. Health and Safety qualification required (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS).
6. Level 3 Leadership & Management Qualification or equivalent or willingness to work towards.
7. Previous experience in the social housing sector.
8. Experience of working to schedules of rates and knowledge of the NHF Schedule of Rates.
9. Experience of managing teams of operatives.
10. Valid CSCS card (preferable).
11. A minimum of 10 years’ experience within the construction industry.
12. Technically minded.
Having the ability to create a strong working environment where everyone works as a team to achieve targets and goals on the contract, as well as being able to build strong relationships with the client and team members, is crucial.
