Job Description
An amazing opportunity for a Transport Shift Manager to join the P66 team. As a Transport Shift Manager, you will ensure that resources are efficiently provided and both company and customer procedures are followed, and agreed customer service levels are always met.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (weekends may be needed to cover core hours of the working day).
How you will contribute:
1. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day transport activities and customer service levels of your shift.
2. Proactively manage and motivate drivers to achieve planned targets and deadlines and resolve any issues daily.
3. Responsible for out of hours order-taking, order amendments, and planning.
4. Responsible for providing customers with accurate ETAs and communicating any changes to their order.
5. Ensure daily briefings and debriefs of driving team members.
6. Ensure absences, sickness, and holidays are covered.
7. Carry out return to work interviews, monitor in line with company policy.
8. Promote and record near miss reporting to support a Health and Safety culture.
9. Ensure accurate and efficient issue of delivery documents.
10. Ensure effective collation of statistical information for various transport reports.
11. Management of tachograph records and vehicle downloads.
12. Ensure the correct management of drivers' hours, working time directives, and monitoring of reference period averages.
What you will bring:
1. Ability to cope in a fast-moving environment with a flexible can-do attitude.
2. Understands and can respond to customer needs.
3. Effective communicator with the ability to develop good working relationships with customers, drivers, and senior managers.
4. Must be self-motivated with a can-do approach as this is an outbase role and you will be the first point of contact for drivers.
5. Understanding of CI principles desirable but not essential.
6. Previous experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, is essential.
7. While previous logistics experience and experience of Transport Management Systems is desirable, it is not essential, as training can be provided.
8. CPC is desirable but not essential.
