Our client, a prominent entity in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This role, integral to project RESOLUTE VALKYRIE, requires a seasoned professional with Security Clearance and substantial expertise in Aviation Engineering.
* Support the development and maintenance of policy and process to satisfy the DE&S and MOD corporate standards for Systems Engineering and Airworthiness. Govern Safety and Airworthiness in support of the Type Airworthiness Authority.
* Contribution to the delivery of key underpinning airworthiness strategies and plans.
* Development and population of the Master Evidence Record.
* Ownership of TASA sub claims, to present to the TAA at the Platform Safety Panel
* Manage engineering and airworthiness aspects of UAS platform programme including in-service support.
* React to in service occurrence reports, propose rectification actions and manage completion of activity
* Support development of the Release to Service Recommendations to meet RTS requirements and programme schedules.
* Contribute to RTSR development within the scope of the system under responsibility.
* Deliverable will be the RTSR
* Manage the delivery of all engineering aspects in area of responsibility (Systems Engineering and Airworthiness) including managing the acquisition safety aspects.
* Be responsible and accountable for work allocated by the Deputy Chief Engineer
* Provide expert advice and guidance in to solve complex technical problems and identify application risks.
* Contribute to problem solving activity with respect to categorisation evidence as well as in service support occurrences.
* Manage the technical requirements for the acquisition lifecycle stage of one or more project, programme, service, or system.
* Manage technical system integration and analyse evidence provided for systems assurance.
* Ensure that own Airworthiness Information Management practices are in line with document retention and records requirement.
* Monitor and implement any governance and assurance policies and procedures to ensure the ‘safe & professional’ status of the area led.
* Identify and brief equipment safety risks in areas of responsibility at all stages of the project.
* Lead on the development of requirements related to own area of specialism including acceptance plans, performance criteria and draft specifications.
* Ensure that system meets the requirements needed by the customer from within the system engineering responsibility.
* Interface with industry both in a scrutiny role and supporting the identification of application risk.
* Review industry provided information where change to design is required, identifying risks of not completing the change and briefing TAA on the impact.
* Support platform Bowtie development ensuring Equipment Contribution Risk to Life remains valid
* Contribute to the development of the equipment contribution to The Duty Holder Bowtie and identify the equipment barriers needed to assure safe operation.
Essential Experience/Skills Requirement
* Aviation Engineering (preference for UAS but general aviation acceptable).
* Able to travel within the UK.
* Security Classification to SC.
Desired Experience/Skills Requirement
* Previous experience in an Aviation Delivery Team (MOD) and use of the AET toolkit.
* Demonstration of knowledge and/or qualification in Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology.
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
* UK national.
Other Information
* Remote working options available, but there will be occurrences when meetings will need to be face to face. Office attendance will be expected on such occasions.
