The CAMHS Crisis Team is nurse led service which works with children and young people who present in a Crisis related to their Emotional and Mental Health needs. Our service is provided for those who are up to 17 years of age unless they have a diagnosis of an Eating Disorder or Neurodevelopmental Disorder.
We provide Crisis assessments within the acute hospitals and the community. These assessments are provided for those who are at significant risk to themselves or others due to their mental health, at risk of significant self-harm or in acute psychological or emotional distress that is causing them to not be able to go about their daily activities, such as going to school and looking after themselves.
We also offer brief crisis support to young people and or families, who can offer support and strategies around managing distress, self-harm, anxiety, low mood and many other concerns.
To work with young people and where appropriate and necessary their families or care providers who present in Mental Health Crisis.
To provide ongoing support, therapeutic interventions when agreed, practical assistance and problem resolution under the supervision of a senior team member.
To support young people and families to implement and review risk planning and engage in relevant support services.

1. To support Young People with a range of practical, health and social issues under the supervision of a senior member of the team.
2. Work with service users to facilitate access and engagement in a range of support services.
3. Develop a rapport based upon championship and friendship, but within appropriate and transparent boundaries.
4. Help users gain access to resources including benefits and welfare rights.
5. Help to identify early signs of relapse by monitoring user’s progress, level of functioning and mental state and alert the appropriate staff involved in the individual’s care.
6. To attend meetings internal and external to the Trust.
7. Maintain adequate records as required by existing procedures, entering appropriate details on the service user’s case notes as necessary.
8. Planning skills involving liaison and coordination of other professionals in partnership agencies also attending meetings case conferences to discuss complex and high risk young people to ensure a successful outcome
9. Attend and participate in team/care plan review meetings as appropriate.
10. Develop good working relationships with other organisations that are able to help individuals achieve their goals, including colleges, schools, other training providers and voluntary agencies, the inpatient units and community services.
