Job Description A freelance opportunity has arisen within a dynamic team that supports the seamless broadcast of over 100 networks across the EMEA region. This role involves a rotating 24/7 shift pattern (14 shifts per month: 7 day shifts and 7 night shifts) and contributes to the preparation of 30,000 hours of content annually. The position is critical in maintaining quality standards, managing assets, and ensuring timely delivery of materials for broadcast. The Media Services Operator is responsible for quality control, asset preparation, and collaboration with various teams to guarantee smooth operations and compliance with technical specifications. Key Responsibilities: Work on assigned tasks under the guidance of the shift Supervisor, ensuring department priorities are met. Follow all Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency and accuracy. Identify and log technical issues, ensuring all relevant details are captured. Maintain an organized and efficient operational area. Collaborate with the Media Management team to ensure timely processing of materials for broadcast. Perform audio track additions using Adobe Audition. Conduct quality control (QC) of audio and video levels for both SD and HD materials, adhering to industry standards and technical specifications. Add metadata and review existing metadata to ensure fault-free broadcasts. Conduct a comprehensive quality assessment using a 5-point grading system. Undertake technical Quality Assessments as needed. Ensure all operational and procedural guidelines are strictly followed. Comply with OFCOM and NICAM Codes of Practice relevant to broadcast channels. Train colleagues as required. Occasionally fulfill operational roles beyond the primary responsibilities. Ensure processed content is accurately uploaded to cloud systems. Respond to urgent transmission requests, ensuring missing materials are accessible on the cloud outside standard business hours. Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong understanding of video and audio quality standards for broadcast. Experience with tools like Adobe Audition and metadata management systems. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality assurance. Familiarity with broadcast regulations and codes of practice. Flexibility to work a rotating shift schedule, including nights and weekends. The role is inside IR35, offering a minimum of 7 shifts per month.
