As the product development Chemist, you will be tasked with the research, development and evaluation of new advanced SCR catalyst formulations, meeting our global automotive customers’ requirements. In this role, you will take day-to-day responsibility for, or provide support to research projects that generate new products, processes and understanding of commercial value to JM whilst building fundamental understanding of the science involved.
You will have the capacity to work independently, or as part of a team, and will be able to co-ordinate and plan projects under general guidance. You will apply initiative, innovation, and creativity in solving day-to-day technical and research challenges. You will gain knowledge and become an expert in preparing new catalyst concepts/formulations as well as organising their testing and analysis.

Your responsibilities:
1. Design and support the manufacture of catalysts to comply with customer and legislative requirements, giving due consideration at all times to Quality standards, EHS and Sustainability.
2. Produce and interpret complex technical data, for circulation and presentation to internal and external customers, to assist with the improvement of products and processes to gain competitive advantage.
3. Coordinate appropriate resources to achieve specified objectives.
4. Be a key point of contact for other Technology Centre Departments.
5. Maintain strong relations with global development teams, application and/or development, by supporting with R&D related activities.
Requirements for the role:
1. A science degree in a relevant discipline – hands-on practical experience would be an advantage.
2. Ability to analyse and interpret technical data.
3. Demonstrable IT skills with an understanding of the Microsoft Office suite.
4. Be a resourceful team player with a hands-on practical approach.
5. Be self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
6. Ability to combine scientific analysis and organisation skills.
7. Outstanding communication skills applied across a wide range of internal customers and stakeholders.
8. Commitment to product quality and delivery for internal and external customers while working to tight deadlines.
