Are you looking for a role where you can support individuals to live independently? We have an opportunity as an Independent Living Housing Officer in the East Dorset region. As an Independent Living Housing Officer, you’ll be offering our enhanced housing management service to customers living within our independent living schemes. You’ll be their first point of contact ensuring our customers feel safe within their homes. This position is permanent and, you’ll be supported by the close knit team whilst receiving full training. You’ll be community based and will attend regular home visits to make sure customers are maintaining their tenancies and offering support, making referrals where needed and offering opportunities for customers to give feedback either through drop in sessions, scheme meetings or newsletters. You’ll be working with our customers, third party agencies where applicable and internal colleagues on matters such as rent accounts, aids and adaptations support, raising permissions for minor works to be completed. This is a multi-faceted role that requires an overarching knowledge of housing management or property maintenance. About You Your skills and experience – You’ll already have knowledge in housing management or property maintenance and will ideally have experience working in a similar role or environment. You’ll bring with you experience of working in an environment where you aware of safeguarding and will be confident in your ability to have challenging conversations with both customers and external agencies to reach desired outcomes. Your knowledge and understanding – You’ll understand the importance of customer service being at the forefront of everything you do and will know how vital remaining independent is for individuals. You’ll be completing risk assessments on site and will need to make decisions in the moment as a result of this so you’ll need to be able to work independently and use the information you have to make informed decisions for the good of the customers. The small stuff – Full on the job training will be provided. As mentioned, the role is community based with some flexibility around hours for the provision of our service between the hours of 8am – 5pm. You’ll need access to a vehicle for work purposes, a full UK driving licence and business use on your car insurance.
