Main duties of the job
As a Nurse Associate at Shirley Health Partnership, you will play an integral role in providing high-quality care within our treatment room. Your responsibilities will include performing a range of clinical tasks both independently and under the supervision and guidance of the wider clinical team.
Treatment Room Duties
1. Provide care in the treatment room, including the delivery of clinical services to patients.
2. Assess and treat wounds, monitor healing, and provide patient education on wound care techniques.
3. Administer baby immunisations, travel immunisations, and adult immunisations in accordance with NHS guidelines.
4. Conduct cervical screening tests to ensure the early detection of potential health issues.
5. Perform routine health checks, including monitoring blood pressure, conducting general health assessments, and offering advice on lifestyle modification.
Skills and Qualifications:
* A registered Nurse Associate with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
* Previous experience in a clinical setting (primary care experience is desirable but not essential).
* Knowledge of immunisation schedules and experience in administering vaccines.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients.
* Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* A compassionate approach to patient care with a focus on safety, dignity, and confidentiality.

Job responsibilities
The Nursing Associate works alongside the clinical team within Shirley Health Partnership (SHP). The post holder will be an integral part of the practice team, working as and when required within SHP. Their principal task is to support registered nurses to enable them to focus on the more complex clinical care of patients.
Primary key responsibilities
1. Delivery of high-quality, compassionate care while undertaking specific clinical and care tasks under the direction of a nominated individual with a focus on promoting good health and independence.
2. Provide high-quality holistic and person-centred care to individuals.
3. Provide routine care to patients as required in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF.
4. Provide wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks as required.
5. Work as part of the SHPs MDT to provide and monitor care, under direct or indirect supervision.
6. Improve safety and quality of care at every opportunity.
7. Contribute to the delivery of integrated care.
8. Work with SHPs MDT to ensure delivery of nursing associate duties to complement existing workforce.
9. Work with a mentor to take responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership, and reflective practice skills within the workplace.
10. Provide support and supervision to training nursing associates, healthcare assistants, apprentices, and those on learning assignments/placements as required.
11. Support registered nurses to enable them to focus on the more complex clinical care.
12. Develop relationships across the MDT to support integration of the role across health and social care including primary care, secondary care, and mental health.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered nursing associate and on the NMC register.
* Meets the specific qualification and training requirements as specified in the Nursing Midwifery Standards of proficiency by having undertaken and completed the two-year Foundation Degree delivered by a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) approved provider.
Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to work as a team member and autonomously.
* Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal, and non-verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers, and colleagues.
