In the UK, Safran Seats specializes solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide-body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales, and Brackley, England.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Plan, conduct and report activities to demonstrate compliance of SGB cabin interior products to CS/FAR Part 25, ETSO and OEM requirements, delivering on time and in full to meet programme schedule.
2. Compile test plans, test reports and other documents necessary to deliver the flammability certification of SGB cabin interior products.
3. Support the certification engineer in the preparation of data packages for submittal to regulators and OEMs in support of applications for ETSO, STC and TC approval.
4. Oversee and support external conformity inspections to show compliance of test products to regulations, accepted means of compliance, and guidance material.
5. Advise other business functions on flammability certification issues throughout the design and development phases to achieve a safe and reliable product.
6. Review and approve engineering drawings and change requests to ensure design meets regulatory flammability certification requirements, guidance, and best practices.
7. Represent the flammability certification department at meetings with customers, installers, and regulatory authorities (milestone meetings, customer events, etc.).
8. Liaise with authorities, regulatory bodies, and airframe manufacturers on flammability certification issues.
9. Maintain the continued airworthiness of existing products in service and support aftermarket and DOA related change requests.
10. Assist with solving production issues relating to flammability certification.
11. Monitor, review, and interrogate product 3D models to establish flammability certification requirements and support design evolution.
12. Support customers with detailed trim and material choices to ensure delivery of the flammability certification of the product.
Job Requirements
Qualified to a degree level in a mechanical engineering field. Alternatively, a HNC/HND or an equivalent qualification in a mechanical engineering field, with demonstrated knowledge/experience in flammability certification and/or aircraft interior equipment and installation.
Essential:
* Knowledge of aircraft seat and furniture flammability certification.
* Knowledge of regulatory standards and quality procedures within the aerospace industry.
* Sound understanding of CS / 14CFR / JAR Airworthiness standards.
* Wide knowledge of Aerospace Engineering processes, and a more detailed working knowledge of the Engineering processes within Safran Seats.
* Knowledge in Flammability test methods, set-ups, test procedure, and results.
Desirable:
* Experience of working with Boeing and Airbus specifications for flammability certification.
* Understanding of flammability test articles, conformity process, and test lab preparation.
