Renfrewshire Council recognises the crucial role SMEs play within the local economy and has developed a range of support programmes designed to encourage job creation and business growth.
We are looking for a highly motivated person who is seeking a challenging role within a busy economic development environment. Working as part of a team you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, customer-focused start up service. Customers, in particular young people will access the service through requests for assistance, proactive promotion of services and opportunities available and referrals from other departments and agencies.
The role will focus on the needs of start-up businesses particularly those of young people and as a Start-up Advisor you will assist with the delivery of the Business Gateway service providing advice and support to start up clients as well as facilitating our Women in Business Network.
It is essential that you will be able to demonstrate experience of providing advisory support directly to small businesses, knowledge of Business Gateway Programme and associated processes and procedures, understanding of key business development issues faced by new-start businesses, understanding of the financial information used by businesses and ability to identify needs and develop innovative and pro-active solutions for SMEs.
It is also essential that you have the ability to engage productively with clients, stakeholders, pan sector bodies and other statutory authorities, experience of Delivering bespoke support packages to SMEs, effective communication, presentation and report writing skills as well as having the ability to work effectively with others.
You must be able to work on own initiative and as part of a small team to meet deadlines and targets and have a positive, enterprising, engaging and proactive approach.
A HND or equivalent in an appropriate discipline is essential. Premier Adviser or SFEDI business adviser qualification is essential.
A degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline & driving licence is desirable.
