A rare opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic team as a Lymphoedema Healthcare Assistant, managing patients with oedema. This role is based in Taunton. You will join us on a permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £15,362.03 per annum.
This is a 22.5 hour part-time role. Hours will be worked across three days per week (ideally Wednesday and Thursday with flexibility on the third day depending on service need).
What can you expect to be doing?
You will be joining our Lymphoedema Service. Our team provides patient-focused care to patients with lymphoedema throughout Somerset, regardless of cause. This includes patients with primary or secondary lymphoedema as well as those with advanced disease.
We also work closely with oncology nurse specialists to monitor patients at high risk of developing lymphoedema, providing education and early detection to improve outcomes. We provide a wide range of treatments including compression therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, laser therapy, kinesiotaping and exercise groups.
Your day-to-day work will include:
* Preparing patients for treatment or review.
* Undertaking simple limb measurements and recording onto the Electronic Health Record System.
* Applying and removing graduated compression garments.
* Preparing and assisting with the application of bandages, including support of the limb.
* Assisting with outpatient clinics, which may include supporting with L-Dex (SOZO) assessment, Doppler assessment, Simple Lymphatic Drainage treatments, and lymph assist treatments.
* Advising patients on skin care, exercise and the use of graduated compression hosiery.
What will you be good at?

* Has an NVQ Level 3 in health and social care or equivalent.
* Has relevant healthcare experience and is interested in developing their skills in lymphoedema management.
