We have an exciting opportunity to join our highly respected Internal Audit team as an Internal Auditor on a permanent basis. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
Who we are
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.
Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.
The role
As an Internal Auditor, this role will be responsible for strengthening Railpen’s and the Trustee’s ability to create, protect, and sustain value by providing independent, risk-based, and objective assurance, advice, insight, and foresight.
At Railpen, we operate in a complex business environment. You’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our teams run well-controlled processes and operations, becoming a trusted advisor. You’ll be able to share your knowledge and learn from subject matter experts across our business in an environment that continues to transform and grow.
The person
The successful candidate will have experience of working as an Internal Auditor where you will have gathered information across the business and analyzed your findings. To succeed in this role, you will be naturally curious in your approach whilst innovating solutions. Experience working within a regulated organization would be a distinct advantage; however, this isn’t essential.
We are looking for someone who can build collaborative and trusting relationships with a variety of key stakeholders across all areas and levels of the business. You will be an effective communicator with the ability to hold difficult conversations and challenge practices that are not working effectively to enable you to have a real impact and add value in our controls across the business. Being courageous and transparent with your findings is essential as you will need to allow for the organization to see itself more clearly and holistically.
Our values of integrity, community, and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behavior. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of ‘fair challenge’, align to the best interests of our members.
