A professionally qualified, experienced Counsellor is required in Student Services with effect from Monday 2nd June 2025. The position is full-time, 37 hours per week (term time only), Monday to Friday.
A professional counselling service is available to all students in the College. There are dedicated rooms for counselling within the Student Services Department. All counselling is on a self-referral basis although students may be advised to seek professional counselling.
The vacancy is for a flexible and adaptable person with excellent communication skills at all levels who is able to respond to the demands of the counselling service for mostly 16-19 students but also for adults when required. The appointed person will also provide mentor support for the Trainee Placement Counsellor.
It is intended that the person appointed will have a client centred approach and a high level of counselling training and qualifications. We are also looking for a person with an ethical body membership and accreditation or working towards this. Work principles will be in accordance with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Code of Ethics. Arrangements will be made to ensure the Counsellor is supervised and has appropriate support.
