The Opportunity

The Role
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for defining and distributing the scope of work to ensure that the project is executed safely, on time and at appropriate levels of quality in contributing to design reviews. In addition to project-specific responsibilities, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will also have responsibilities including the supervision of less experienced engineering employees and engineering resource management input.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
1. Degree qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline or demonstrable experience.
2. Working towards, or already have, Chartership in a discipline specific engineering institution.
3. Strong understanding of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline.
4. Previous experience of working within the nuclear industry (this is desirable but not essential if transferrable skills are demonstrated).
5. Proven track record of successfully delivering design solutions within a highly regulated industry.
6. Understanding of the requirements to support safety led designs and associated regulatory compliance.
7. Good understanding of wider industry safety legislation and statutory regulations.
It's great if you also have the following:
1. Full membership of a discipline specific engineering institution.
2. Experience of bid preparation.
3. An understanding of Nuclear Industry Design Substantiation.
