THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is currently seeking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Engineer (Office based) to ensure the completion of site inspections and compliance. The role is based in the Tyne & Wear area. The successful candidate will undoubtedly have a strong working knowledge of Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR). The aim of these Regulations is to prevent serious injury from the hazard of stored energy as a result of the failure of a pressure system or one of its component parts. The role involves working in an ATEX environment ensuring site inspections comply with industry regulation, ensuring service agreements are maintained, organising remedial works, producing SOPs and site instructions. THE ROLE
Overseeing comprehensive inspection services of 3 large industrial steam boilers (2 x 20 megawatts & 1 x 35 megawatt)
Working with British Engineering Services (BES) to run inspection, testing & certification of equipment & asset inspection services
Working with BES to prioritise the safety & reliability of site-based equipment & assets
Advising and making recommendations within the field of Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR)
Being the focal point of mechanical knowledge to aid and process remedies from inspections
Ensuring service agreements are adhered to
Understanding the differing levels of inspections
Producing SOPs and task instructions
Arranging specialist providers to complete defective works and shortfalls in standards
Completing compliance and regulatory tasks and updating internal SAP systems
Taking ownership and responsibility for a small team of engineers (2)
THE PERSON
Time served Mechanical Engineer with HNC as a minimum
Previous inspection experience, ideally working with organisations such as British Engineering Services (BES)
Strong mechanical knowledge to solve issues across a range of mechanical disciplines such as design, maintenance, welding & fabrication
Working knowledge of alternate fuels would be beneficial as would product recycling into energy
Strong knowledge of Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR) fundamental to the role
If required, the organisation is prepared to support the successful individual to achieve Mechanical CompEX (EX11)
