About the role
Balfour Beatty Power Transmission and Distribution have a fantastic opportunity for a new Head of Operations to join their team. The role will lead and manage the winning and the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects while maintaining a collaborative working environment which ensures client and stakeholder requirements are effectively managed and employees feel motivated and engaged to deliver.
The role will be based in Scotland from our office's in either Aberdeen or Motherwell, with regular visits to site projects in the Northeast of Scotland.
With the Power business in a key stage of growth, there is plenty of scope for development in this role and it would suit someone with ambition and drive to grow with the business. This will be a key opportunity to be a part of providing the future Power T&D infrastructure in Scotland and will play a critical part in delivering the Net Zero drive.
What you'll be doing
* Deliver the Power T&D business strategy especially in regard to securing work and achieving project outcomes.
* Manage commercial and business risks to achieve targets.
* Understand the relevant commercial terms and conditions for each project.
* Pro-actively manage the customer relationship during delivery, including change and decision making to effectively manage expectations.
* Leadership of Zero Harm and drive for continuous improvement across SHEQ throughout the project life cycle.
* Collaborate relentlessly to ensure best opportunities for Power T&D are targeted and that the resources are utilised in the most efficient way.
* To develop a diverse and inclusive culture, creating a high performing, engaged workforce.
* Show clear, visible felt leadership and display the right leadership behaviours.
* Develop and support the operational teams to be successful by talking positively, listening actively and encouraging constantly.
* Successfully implement the Gated Business Lifecycle at every opportunity.
Who we're looking for
* Experience of working on large, complex infrastructure projects in Power or an alternative sector with transferable skills.
* High level of customer focus and excellent stakeholder management, able to remain calm and effectively manage expectations and provide an excellent customer experience.
* Team player, adept at managing internal relationships at all levels across Operations, Commercial and Project Management to foster a collaborative environment. They will ideally have experience of dealing with on-site staff and will be visible at project sites.
* Dynamic and adaptable individual, able to embrace the inevitable change that comes with a rapidly growing business and can comfortably manage multiple tasks.
* Has the drive to see a project through from early contractor involvement to delivery and handover, can lead and motivate a team to deliver quality output and be accountable for all aspects of operational performance.
