Job Title: Helen Arkell Psychologist Employment arrangement : either self-employed associate, or employee, to be agreed on a case by case basis Responsible to : Head of Dyslexia Support Salary : paid per assessment. Fee structure available on application Based at : anywhere in the UK if able to conduct remote assessments; if only able to conduct face to face assessments, the post holder will need to travel to one of the charity’s hubs (currently Farnham, Oxford, South London). We also have an opportunity for face to face assessments at Bradfield College, Berkshire Main Responsibilities and Tasks • Plan and carry out diagnostic assessments, according to Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity (HADC) protocol and SASC guidelines • Provide provisional verbal feedback to parents/carers immediately after assessment • Produce diagnostic assessment reports within required timeframe, according to HADC protocol • Liaise with parents/carers to clarify aspects of assessment or report, as required • Stay up to date with legislation and professional guidelines in this field • Maintain registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) • Undertake CPD activities • Attend Helen Arkell meetings as required • Be committed to safeguarding the physical, emotional and mental well-being of the people you work with This job description reflects the present requirements of the post, and as duties and responsibilities change/develop, the job description will be reviewed and be subject to amendment in consultation with the post-holder. Person Specification Qualifications and Certifications Essential • Hold an approved qualification and maintain HCPC registration • Experience working with children/young people or adults (i.e. the age group you assess) with specific learning difficulties Desirable • Experience of statutory work to contribute to the EHCP application and review process if working with children and young people Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Technical Competencies Essential • Excellent knowledge of dyslexia and specific learning difficulties • Excellent knowledge of specialist support strategies • Excellent interpersonal skills and sensitivity • Strong administrative and organisational skills • Excellent attention to detail • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) • Commitment to on-going professional development Personal experience of dyslexia will always be viewed as an asset within the charity Personal Qualities Essential • Compatibility with the charity’s values, including professionalism with the personal touch • Commitment to the charity’s aims • High level of personal integrity and commitment, with a can-do attitude • Adaptable and flexible • Excellent time management and organisational skills • Attention to detail Benefits As a Psychologist within our team you will benefit from: • Competitive rates of pay • Support from our expert team.
