Morson Talent are delighted to present an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Commissioning Consultant (safety case) to join our client’s established team for work associated with a major energy infrastructure Project in Somerset. This is a 12-month (renewable) contract position – inside IR35. Location: South West Region ( locations include: Bristol, Gloucester, Bridgwater) HYBRID WORKING OPTIONS APPLY Scope The Commissioning Consultant will support the ongoing maintenance and application of the commissioning safety case and the development of the operational safety case. This will include providing critical input, insight and guidance on the proposed approaches to the production and management of safety cases, operational technical specifications and reactor physics monitoring and compliance. It will also include interactions with the commissioning programme on the requirements of the extant safety case, and to support preparations for operation. The Person Throughout the projects lifecycle, the role of the Commissioning Consultant will evolve, combining technical expertise with project management skills. You will contribute to detailed planning and preparation for the start of the Commissioning phase through to operations. Building strong collaborative relationships with designers, contractors, the wider project delivery team, site engineering and the plant operational organisation will be crucial in ensuring well-defined and controlled interfaces with the commissioning process. Key responsibilities: Develop safety case and operational documentation relating to commissioning and future operational activities, ensuring that lessons from each phase are incorporated into future processes. Review strategy documents, providing insights and advice into their accuracy and achievability Contribute to cross functional benchmarking exercises within pre-operations and across the wider organisation Support the development of nuclear safety related training that ensures compliance with the nuclear site licence and the organisational requirements at each phase of the project. This will include the provision of advice on the scope of emergency scheme roles as well as normal operation. Support the development and ongoing maintenance of Operational and Hazard technical specifications, offering safety case advice and expertise. Oversee the implementation of the nuclear safety case, contributing as a key stakeholder in the project. Ensure that the commissioning and operational process adheres to nuclear, environmental, and industrial safety regulatory requirements, incorporating international best practices in safety and technical excellence. Criteria Typically holds a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline. Experience in commissioning, maintenance and/or operations of complex systems Track record of project delivery in a technical role. Previous experience working in environments with a strong focus on safety and quality. Collaborate well and build effective networks in a diverse team environment. Ability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to unexpected changes. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to innovate, think laterally and implement processes. Possesses a growth mindset and demonstrates resilience in learning from setbacks. Proficient oral and written communications skills with ability to convey complex information to others
