HSA Locums are looking to engage with support workers and healthcare assistants experienced within substance misuse within the community. Our client is an established community service offering support for patients with alcohol addiction. They are implementing a new service which will enable patients undergoing the detoxification process to receive support directly within their own home.
You will be working with individuals facing significant mental health issues, social and health care needs, and substance misuse challenges. You will collaborate alongside community mental health teams and adult social care services. The ideal candidate will be a great communicator with a minimum of 6 months experience in substance misuse.
The role:
1. Supporting service users through their treatment/recovery journey
2. Assisting on night duty, monitoring patients and providing support where needed
3. Meeting patients and discussing their recovery
4. Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
5. Promoting carer, service user, and community involvement
6. Providing advocacy for access to partnership services
7. Working with service users to support social (re)integration, enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives: promoting recovery, resilience, peer support, and self-determination

About you:
1. Strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience in a similar field
2. Able to interpret and identify risks and escalate accordingly
3. Experience of working with group dynamics, such as conflict or challenging behaviour
4. Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with good IT skills
5. Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
6. Good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and best practices
7. Supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and stakeholders
8. Ability to manage change successfully while prioritising the needs of service users
9. Understanding of information governance processes and commitment to apply all necessary safeguards
10. Able to work remotely and within patients' homes
11. Able to travel
Our client is able to offer 3-45 nights per week ongoing for the right candidate with the correct experience, and we are looking for immediate starts.
