Job description Role Overview The Head of Debt Policy and Strategy will line manage the debt strategy and policy team. In this role, you will be responsible for: Providing MaPS with a deep understanding of the debt landscape, advising the management board and identifying key strategic risks and opportunities for MAPS in relation to corporate policy, propositions and our advice and guidance model. Working with policy leads within the relevant government departments to ensure that MAPS aligns to and delivers against key Government policy priorities Developing MAPS submissions and inputs into relevant Government and sector initiatives that affect the organisation or our customers Responsible for partnering with the partnership and commissioning team to provide SME input to ensure that the Debt Strategy is appropriately implemented to achieve quality and volume targets Collaborate on the development and delivery of the services UK debt advice strategy Line management of the debt strategy and policy team to deliver its operational goals and KPIs. Maintain and develop relationships with devolved administrations Undertake media and external representation for debt policy and strategy Contribute to the develop of the corporate plan for the debt advice area Provide a link to wider policy and strategy work in money guidance and pensions Person specification Skills and Experience Required To excel in this role, you will need to demonstrate: Knowledge of UK debt agenda and ability to hit the ground running with strong and productive stakeholder relationships established across the sector Experience line managing a specialist team Proven expertise in strategic engagement and relevant stakeholder management experience. Proven ability in articulating and winning support for a compelling strategic vision to a range of stakeholders, in influencing stakeholders and in delivering change Evidence of the successful delivery of corporate objectives and business plans, with significant proven outcomes. Demonstrable strength in communication skills and expertise at collaboration, able to work effectively with colleagues, liaise with industry experts and represent the Service externally. Desirable Criteria: Proven delivery of corporate leadership, operating effectively and with the ability to make sense out of complex, and ambiguous situations. As standard, we work on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and our headquarters in Bedford will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business needs, but personal and other relevant circumstances will also be considered. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
