The job itself
Having added additional management capacity to our Youth Justice Service we are now seeking to recruit an energetic, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Youth Justice Service Practice Manager to lead on the continuous development of the service.
In the last HMI Probation Inspection, East Riding Youth Justice Service was rated outstanding across all areas and was the first to achieve full marks in an official inspection (report attached). The ambitious service ensures that children are diverted away from the formal criminal justice system and a child-first ethos is embedded into all support given to children who are referred to the service. The team works on a strength-based approach with children to support them with their identified needs and future aspirations.
As an operational manager, you will be overseeing the diversion work and statutory court work, working in collaboration with the Police and partner agencies to ensure the most suitable outcomes are given to children who are referred to the service. You will support and manage a team of practitioners offering regular supervision whilst providing oversight of risk and decision-making.
The ideal candidate would have:
* Worked in a criminal justice/statutory childcare setting
* Experience of working with children and families
* Experience of Court work
* Experience of Chairing meetings with partner agencies
* A Social Work Qualification (Dip, BA, MA etc.) or equivalent related degree such as criminology, psychology, or probation qualifications
* Experience of staff supervision/management
* Knowledge and experience of formal inspections (HMIP/Ofsted)
This post is also subject to Police Vetting.
