Engineering Surveyor (Internal only)
Job Title: Engineering Surveyor – C1 North
Location: North Portal, Great Missenden
Department: Surface Construction
Reporting to: Lead Engineering Surveyor, Senior Engineering Surveyor
Purpose of the job
The ALIGN Engineering Surveyor will be responsible for ensuring site surveys are carried out in accordance with Client and project procedures, processes, and RAMS. Processing survey data in a timely manner including reporting and delivery in line with Survey and BIM procedures and project deadlines. Ensures that they work in accordance with H&S regulations and deliver to the quality standards required.
Responsibilities
The ALIGN C1N Engineering Surveyor will be responsible for:
1. Working with a team of one or more Surveyors in carrying out surveying activities.
2. Assisting in supervising and instructing survey related personnel to ensure quality, timely and safe work practices.
3. Carrying out, through the team, all engineering survey requirements in line with procedures and management plan.
4. Carrying out control network observations and adjustments in conjunction with the Lead and Senior.
5. Carrying out infrastructure setting out to design and ensure QA of S/C setting out.
6. Carrying out manual and semi-automated monitoring as required, reviewing results and following monitoring plans.
7. Converting and checking earthwork designs for upload to machine-controlled plant and ensure machines are working to correct designs, completing checks on earthwork layers and reviewing plant calibrations.
8. Carrying out drone surveys to track site progress and enable calculations against earthwork designs.
9. Carrying out laser scanning and other industry leading Engineering surveying techniques.
10. Ensuring best safe practices during all survey-based operations, liaising with the site-based construction and safety staff.
11. Accurately and reliably producing survey data to present to production and design teams including other stakeholders as required.
12. Effectively managing a team for some tasks in line with the Project strategy.
13. Always ensuring safe execution of the work.
14. Fulfilling Health & Safety responsibilities by adhering to the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and Management Plans.
15. Complying with all Company’s Policies and Procedures.
16. Undertaking other such reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
Skills & Experience
* A degree or equivalent qualification in Land/Engineering Survey or Geomatics and/or relevant work experience which demonstrates applied knowledge of Engineering survey procedures.
* Extensive relevant experience in their field.
* Up to date knowledge of Engineering surveying techniques.
* Experience working with Junior/Graduate Surveyors and developing their knowledge.
* Experienced in measurement and coordination of large-scale survey networks.
* Experience in working with design alignments, 3D design models, positioning control systems, laser scan capture and processing methodologies for design analysis and As-built reporting.
* Experience of the processes and design of earthworks and managing machine-controlled plant.
* A self-sufficient and motivated individual who can build relationships, develop strategy, and establish processes for surveying.
* Knowledge of HS2Grid or similar grid systems preferably including translation between grid systems.
* Computer skills across the whole Microsoft Office suite.
* Experience in survey data processing through various software suites.
* Experience in control network adjustments.
* Experience in Laser scan processing procedures.
* Experience in earthworks and 3D Machine control.
* PfCO qualified with UAV experience and knowledge of ground control requirements (desirable).
* CSCS Card holder.
* SSSTS/SMSTS (Desirable).
