Job Purpose
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, empathetic and experienced social worker to join our priority services team at United Utilities, supporting customers who may have a variety of different needs and may have been placed in situations where they require extra support. The Lead Social Worker will report to the Priority Services Manager and will be responsible for the management of a further social worker role.
We are looking for a qualified social worker with significant experience of working in a fast-paced reactive environment and is comfortable with the unknown and with approaching each situation with curiosity and empathy. We would like a social worker who is approachable and keen to support our colleagues who will in turn be supporting our customers.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Work with a range of customers who have various needs, conducting assessments and support plans and referring to local authorities where appropriate, ensuring we are recognising any safeguarding concerns.
* Work with other agencies and make relevant referrals, keeping updated with industry best practices and regulatory guidelines.
* Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake lead responsibilities, providing face-to-face support to customers in emergency situations.
* Develop and implement a strategy for supporting customers.
* Work with key stakeholders across the industry to identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities.
Technical Skills & Experience
* Proven post qualifying social work experience (or equivalent working within a similar sector).
* Experience working within the adult social care sector, ideally with a good understanding or experience of working within a mental health team.
* An ability to use initiative to tackle sensitive customer scenarios to deliver great outcomes, building rapport and trust with customers and colleagues to ensure tailored support.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Be comfortable using your Social Worker skills and applying them to a new industry.
Qualifications
* Social Work Degree and current registration with Social Work England
* ASYE required
Additional Information
* The role will be based at Lingley Mere business park, Warrington
* Some travel will be required
* Standard working hours will be between 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday, with some flexibility needed for operational incidents 365 days per year on a 24/7 basis.
