The Support Worker (Personal Assistant) is a key support and care role in Michael’s high quality support package.
Reporting to Dawn Benson (Michael's Mum) and his court of protection deputies.
The post holder will be responsible for:
1. Supporting Michael in his decision making
2. Providing hands-on support, care, and therapies to Michael
3. Administration of medication and when needed providing first aid to Michael
4. Keeping Michael's home and equipment in a good state of operation
5. Following and where necessary, contributing to Michael’s care plan
6. Manage, and where needed, initiate health appointments for Michael
7. Identify emerging health and wellbeing needs
8. Organising Michael’s home environment, systems, and equipment. Identify and report maintenance issues
9. Maintaining own mandatory training
10. Contributing to the maintenance of a healthy and balanced menu for Michael
11. Supporting Michael in shopping for his food and household items
12. Creating shopping lists and reporting to supervisors when items need to be replenished
13. Undertaking all forms of domestic tasks associated with Michael and his home, vehicle, and equipment
14. Cooking and undertaking excellent food hygiene
15. Supporting Michael and providing personal care
16. Supporting Michael to undertake all tasks associated with his assistance dog, Jack
17. Supporting Michael's social inclusion and opportunities to live his preferred life
18. Advocating for Michael
19. Any other duties as required by Michael or supervisor

Education & Qualification
* Educated to NVQ level 2 or 3 or A level or equivalent, with understanding and experience in management, support and care, disability equality, healthy eating, and exercise. (D)
* Full clean driving license (E)

* Proficient IT skills and ability to use Microsoft Office packages & understanding of finance and budgeting (E)
* Well-developed negotiating and influencing skills (E)
* Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and to be highly motivated as part of a small and specialist team (E)
* Skills in maintaining high levels of domestic standards in all domains (E)
* Experience and skills in playing games on PlayStation/Xbox and have a high level of patience in supporting others to develop their skills (E)
