The Material Control Manager is responsible for a broad portfolio of purchasing materials and inventory matters across a variety of commodities and segments to enable Brush Transformers to manufacture and deliver our range of Transformers and Service Department activities on time. As a key business contributor your daily activity will underpin the overall business strategy and objectives, adding value, and reducing total cost of ownership whilst delivering exceptional operational and customer service. Against the backdrop of a mixed commercial environment the role requires a proactive and logical mode of engagement to ensure a maximum yield from a complex and fast paced supply chain. Integrated within a team of specialists who manage several commodities and supply segments, you will be responsible for material control, goods inwards, warehousing, WIP and stock inventories. You will be adept at identifying and developing material and inventory supply solutions, cost reductions and operational service opportunities, in order to drive sustainable improved business outcomes. Main Responsibilities Plan, organize, direct, manage and evaluate the material management activities and the associated budget of department and organisation. Conduct material management, inventory management, purchasing, and warehousing planning activities, as required by the organisation including management of materials stored at COBOT. Produce purchase requisitions for all direct project and indirect requirements in accordance with the business plan ensuring all materials are delivered on time. Work alongside planning and project departments to ensure ordering information is available on time to meet current product lead times. Produce weekly outstanding purchase requisition reports and issue to the procurement team. Produce weekly shortage reports to cover minimum 6 weeks advance production requirements issuing and communicating any potential material delays to relevant departments as required. Management of project work order kitting explosions on Brush ERP system and work order roll ups. Placing and expediting call off and kanban orders in accordance with business stream outputs. Adjusting order coverage in place / issuing purchase requisitions to maintain the adequate supply of free-issue goods and advising procurement on rescheduling purchase orders according to the build and master schedule production plans. Develop and issue monthly material and inventory management KPI’s. Progressing and expediting deliveries from vendors including visits to Vendors if required. Manage the procurement element of the ECN process advising purchase orders requiring action. Manage and support engineering BOM updates where appropriate. Management and performance monitoring (PDRs) for all direct reports. Interview, select, coach, train, manage, and appraise the performance of material management and stores personnel. Represent procurement at production and project review meetings. Manage all aspects of stock and WIP control and accuracy including materials stored off-site. Responsibility for annual stocktake management and external stores audits. Maintain Goods Received / Stores Management and Material Control process documents. Perform managerial functions, such as preparing proposals and budgets, analysing labour and material project costs. Build annual budgets in line with the department and organisational goals. Control and management of consignment purchase orders including reconciling and clearing invoice queries. Manage the procurement element of the NCR process including return and expedite replacement. Arrange packing and shipping of free-issue materials required at Vendors. Deliver KPI’s relating to cost, cash, quality, service, and continuity of supply for the portfolio. Deputise, where necessary for the Procurement Manager and Senior Buyer during periods of absence. Proactively manage Health, Safety and Environmental matters for the department. Person Specification Minimum of 3 years material control experience in a manufacturing environment. Ideally Six Sigma/Lean yellow or green belt certified. Strong negotiation skills. Advanced MS Excel skills for Cost Modelling and Reporting. Experience in vendor management and supplier relationship management. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Readily accepts responsibility and ownership. An attitude drive and determination to make a difference. Full driving license.
