Job Title: Head of Supply Chain & Logistics
Location: Derbyshire
Salary: £80,000 – £90,000, plus 12% annual bonus + additional benefits
Our client is a rapidly growing engineering group at the forefront of innovation in their sector. As part of their commitment to delivering best in class services and solutions, they are undertaking a strategic review of their Supply Chain and Logistics function and are seeking an experienced interim consultant to work with their senior team to drive impactful change.
Brief:
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience and be able to work within a rapidly expanding SME environment, demonstrating the ability to add value in a fast-growing change business. You will be responsible for purchasing materials, tooling, and services through the external supply chain as well as their storage and distribution for the UK and all sales activity across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. You will have full responsibility for all company supply chain activity, including management of transactions, vendor interface activity, and relationships.
Key deliverables:
• Streamline suppliers based upon their competence, competitive standing, and compatibility with company UK procedures.
• Negotiate contracts with major suppliers to secure consistent supplies and competitive prices.
• Create and review new and existing supplier contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) through regular supplier audits, with a view to improving performance, rates, and/or rebates.
• Responsible for supplier selection, giving consideration to cost, quality, performance, and compliance.
• Manage all necessary information/deliverables for Bills of Materials, material requests, and material budgets in order to support business needs and key stakeholders.
• Negotiate cost reductions and continuous process improvements on an ongoing basis, generating a more collaborative working relationship.
• Investigate complaints involving such matters as non-conformities (NCRs), damaged items, quality defects, overcharges, and delays in shipments, making necessary adjustments.
• Work together with other functions such as Assurance, Engineering, Projects, and Planning to ensure key stakeholders are informed and satisfied with Purchasing’s deliverables.
• Define and deploy the logistics strategy (inbound and outbound).
• Continuous analysis of costs of movement of goods and benchmarking against alternative providers.
• Develop a logistics budget in cooperation with the finance department and negotiate costs and set up contracts accordingly.
• Responsible for inventory accuracy and report to finance for monthly closing.
Ideal Candidate:
• CIPS qualification.
• Experience designing a group strategy.
• Proven leadership experience in a similar role, demonstrating performance management and increased engagement.
• Strong analytical and strategic planning skills, showing advanced stock/inventory management.
• Track record in managing supply, procurement, and logistics.
This role is based in Derbyshire, easily commutable from anywhere in the East Midlands, including Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and South Yorkshire.
