Job Title: Residential Support Worker – Young People’s residential home
Location: Peterborough
Salary: £28,210 – £31,801 per annum + sleep allowance
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Shift pattern: 7:30 – 16:30 and 13:00 – 22:00 with alternate weekends off.
About the role:
Liquid Personnel have an exclusive opportunity for Residential Support Workers to join an incredible Ofsted registered, residential home. You will be joining a secure, welfare only, all-female children’s home. You will work directly with young people who have a range of complex needs that can include suicidal and/or self-harm behaviour, aggression, violence, anti-social and challenging conduct.
Your key responsibilities as the Residential Support Worker:
* To demonstrate good childcare practices in own direct work with children to be a role model for other staff members
* Key Working to be responsible for and accountable to senior staff in ensuring effective assessment monitoring, planning and evaluating for each child takes place.
* To actively seek the views and opinions of children and provide a platform from which they can be heard.
* To carry out specific tasks as delegated by the Registered Manager/ Deputy/ Seniors
* To be supportive of teamwork. Following agreed team meetings/plans and supporting a high challenge high support culture.
* Meet the needs of children and young people, using a restorative approach, developing strong relationships to support children make their own decisions and actively engage.
* Delivery of direct work with children through their plans of support.
* Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with other services, the community, and agencies to deliver a holistic service to children with complex needs.
* Delivery of specialist interventions and programmes (training is provided)
Essential Requirements:
* Empathy and a passion for helping young people – responding effectively to a range of emotions.
* Ability to build positive relationships.
* Prior knowledge of child protection issues and procedures and an understanding of the development needs of children and young people are desirable but not essential.
