ROLE SUMMARY:
Wetherby Preparatory School is undergoing a dynamic period of development in which innovative thinking is encouraged, and every teacher’s contribution is valued.
Wetherby Preparatory School is an independent boys’ preparatory school (ages 7 – 13) of 350 boys set in the dynamic area of Marylebone in London. Wetherby prepares its pupils for many of the top day and boarding senior schools in the country and therefore works at a level significantly above National Curriculum expectations. It is part of the Inspired Education Group of Schools.

Wetherby Preparatory School seeks a dynamic and experienced Games Teacher to inspire a love of sport and physical activity among our students. The successful candidate will play a key role in the school’s sports program, fostering teamwork, resilience, and skill development while promoting physical well-being.
Start Date will be April 2025!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Sports Instruction and Coaching:
o Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate PE and sports lessons across the school.
o Coach teams in key sports, including Football, Rugby, Cricket, and Swimming.
o Introduce and support participation in other sports such as tennis, athletics, or basketball, based on student interests and school resources.
o Lead training sessions, matches, and tournaments, fostering both skill development and sportsmanship.
o Take part or lead an afterschool club based around a sporting activity.
o Occasional participation in weekend tournaments/matches as needed.
* Health and Safety:
o Ensure all PE lessons and sports activities comply with health and safety regulations.
o Conduct regular risk assessments for sports facilities and activities.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
* Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent, with a strong background in Physical Education and Sports.
* Experience coaching or teaching Football, Rugby, Cricket, and Swimming.
* A passion for promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work out schedules for tournaments and matches.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
Desirable Criteria:
* Additional coaching qualifications or expertise in other sports, such as athletics, basketball, or tennis.
* Experience organising and supporting inter-school competitions and events.
* Knowledge of child development and strategies to engage boys in physical and co-curricular activities.
First Aid certification or a willingness to obtain it.
