HONORARY TREASURER NEEDEDSt Leonard’s Church Turners Hill St Leonard’s Church is looking for an Honorary Treasurer to takeover from the current retiring Treasurer.
The Treasurer is responsible for the management and safekeeping of the finances of the Church. In a normal month there will be about 35 transactions. The Treasurer manages income from sources such as direct debits, church offertory plate collections, adhoc donations and grants. In addition, recording and allocating monies received in respect of weddings, funerals and baptisms. GiftAid claims are made quarterly. Expenses and contracts with utility companies to be monitored. It is a lso a requirement that the Treasurer is a member of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and is responsible to that body. Annually, the Treasurer compiles the Annual Financial Report and arranges for it to be independently examined and submitted to the Charity Commission and the Diocese of Chichester. Reports and updates will be required for the quarterly Fabric & Finance and PCC meetings. Previous experience as a Treasurer is essential, together with a knowledge of accruals, accounting methods, financial planning and forecasting. The current Treasurer is happy to provide some training and also a comprehensive handover. All members of the PCC are required to undertake the Diocese of Chichester’s online Safeguarding training.
