Type: Full time, Permanent, Monday-Friday
Reporting to: the Account Manager, this role will see you provide support and advice to the Operational Management teams which ensures that construction activities are carried out safely and in full compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, CDM (Construction, Design and Management) 2015 and SOP's applicable to CDM 2015, as well as provide the same level of Health and Safety support, advice and general H&S training for all other non-construction work activities, including where relevant, Grounds Maintenance, and office work.
Responsibilities:
1. Attend and contribute to management meetings.
2. Produce monthly informative and analytical reports.
3. Undertake frequent site inspections to monitor compliance and where needed, take decisive actions.
4. Deal with all HS&EP concerns raised by staff in a proactive manner to seek a suitable resolution.
5. Write and/or contribute to the contract and business monthly H&S report.
6. Assist operational managers where necessary.
7. Attend coordination/cooperation meetings with clients.
8. Support the health and safety audit regime ensuring that BS 45001 certification is maintained.
You may at times be required to work at Porton Down West, but your main base will be DSTL at Salisbury.
What You Need To Do The Job: First and foremost, you should be an experienced Health and Safety Manager, with NEBOSH Diploma (or Construction/General Certificate or equivalent), a Fire Risk Assessment accredited qualification (IOSH / BSC etc.), hold Membership of Association for Project Safety (APS) or Equivalent Organisation, and be a Chartered Member of IOSH, or working towards this.
It is important that you are an effective communicator who is able to engage and influence at all levels within and outside the organisation, with experience of H&S management in high-risk areas, with demonstrable knowledge of current and relevant H&S legislation. Good presentation skills are essential, including delivery of training, as well as good report writing and data analysis skills and experience of chairing meetings and a proactive approach to problem solving.
You must hold a full UK driving licence, and for vetting reasons, we are only able to accept applications from British Nationals who are able to pass SC Clearance.
