We are excited to share that we have a full-time opportunity for Band 2 Healthcare Assistant / Theatre Support Worker within our Theatre team. We are a brand new standalone Paediatric Theatre Complex, comprising of 2 elective theatres and a 6-bay PACU (Post Anaesthetic Care Unit) area.
Main Duties of the Job
The Divisions of Surgery and Women and Children will be integrated. Developing a service, workforce, and strategy that supports and embeds the Trust's Children's Strategy. Modernising our workforce, we will provide CPD packages for all staff with clear progression pathways.

Job Responsibilities
* Moving patients between wards, theatres, and recovery departments.
* Assisting in the care of the surgical patient during the peri-operative period by supporting the multidisciplinary team.
* Supporting the theatre personnel in providing a safe, high-quality environment for the carrying out of surgical procedures:
o Assisting the Clinical Practitioners with procedures.
o Providing basic patient care.
o Assisting in the general upkeep and maintenance of stock levels.
o Providing a safe environment ensuring the highest quality of patient care is provided.
o Preparing and setting up theatre prior to theatre list.
o General circulating duties as instructed/requested from qualified members of the theatre team.
o Assisting the safe transit of the patient to and from the ward and between areas within day theatres, before and after surgery, and ensuring the safety of any equipment that is attached to the patient.
o Providing knowledgeable and safe assistance with the transfer of the anaesthetised patient from the patient's trolley to the operating table using the hospital policy for manual handling of patients.
o Assisting with the positioning of the patient for a surgical procedure.
o Undertaking pressure area care using pressure relieving practices and devices as advised by registered staff.
o Ensuring all documentation is recorded accurately, legibly signed, and dated in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and countersigned by registered staff as appropriate.
Flexible working, part-time hours. The theatre complex operates 7-day working.

Qualifications
* General education to GCSE Maths and English Grade A-D (or equivalent).
Experience
* Experience of working with people/a team.
* Previous health/social care support worker experience.
