COMMENCEMENT 01/09/23 or as soon as possible The Bridge School is a KS3 & KS4 Pupil Referral Unit. KS3 students, receive intervention and development programs, focussed on reintegration or transition. KS4 students attend The Bridge School as part of a wider Alternative Provision timetable, challenging them to achieve appropriate accreditation in line with their abilities, and preparing them for their next steps post 16. The School is looking for a competent and enthusiastic Science Teacher who is able to deliver one other subject and who will ensure all youngsters develop skills and knowledge in line with their abilities and potential. You will have the ability to fire up the motivation and engagement of our young people and lead them in the direction that builds a love for learning, and meaningful accreditation. The successful applicant will have resilience, personality and skills to engage and develop students, who may have struggled within their previous educational settings. You will be keen to identify specific strengths or barriers to learning, implementing innovative and creative strategies to remove these barriers, and invigorate participation. You will be expected to provide valuable accredited pathways which reflect individual student competencies from Foundations Level, to in most cases GCSE. Importantly, this member of the staff team will be expected to, and required to, deliver and develop other areas of the curriculum, being responsive to the emerging needs and profile of the school. Therefore, willingness or experience in teaching wider curriculum areas would be highly desirable. You will have skills and personality to develop strong, professional and sustainable relationships with students, being positive, calm, resilient, consistent and reliable. You will be a visible participant in a team approach. Your individual and group management and communication skills need to be of a high competency. This specific post has Tutor Group responsibilities, supporting PSHE and Citizenship Curriculum, Careers Education and supporting the daily development of student’s social, emotional and mental health needs. You will work closely Teacher Assistants and Key Workers in order to support each individual student assigned to you.
