The Position
At Roche UK, we focus our energy and investment in developing tests and treatments that change lives and give us more quality time with the people we love. And, together with others, we’re solving healthcare’s greatest challenges; helping to achieve better results by connecting early diagnosis to targeted treatment and ongoing support.
A key component to our success is our continual focus on the individuals who are affected by the conditions that Roche focuses on, now and in the future. The Public Affairs team is responsible for how Roche shows up with communities of people with lived experience, and the government bodies, policies and systems that shape our environment.
The Purpose
The Public Affairs team is continually analysing how the political environment, legislation, regulation and other policies can impact communities and our industry. The team helps to build partnerships with advocates, decision-makers and policymakers to achieve our goal of ensuring that UK patients have the best access to medicines in Europe.
The Opportunity
Applying a deep understanding of the political system and policy landscape, you will seek to shape policy discussions on the future of healthy living and care in the UK. You will work in coalition with other policy advocates, including trade associations, to highlight and solve the barriers and issues affecting patients and our industry.
As a relationship-builder and strategist, you will have a record of engaging with government officials, politicians and policymakers. You will have persuasive writing skills and the ability to develop strong relationships, striving to meet strategic goals with tact and professionalism. You will also have experience collaborating with communities of people with lived experience, and the advocates and organisations representing them.
Who you are
Previous experience of public affairs within a similar organisation is essential, along with an understanding of the role of public affairs in the UK pharmaceutical industry. Above all, you will know how to build long lasting, effective relationships and manage change to optimum effect, make decisions under pressure and work collaboratively with relevant teams offering direction and advice.
