Recruitment Coordinator at SecuriGroup | The University of Edinburgh
SecuriGroup is a security company licensed by the Home Office regulator, the Security Industry Authority. Its head office is based in Glasgow, with additional offices and operations covering the entirety of the UK and Republic of Ireland.
The Company operates in a variety of industries which includes everything from local bars and football clubs, to FTSE and NYSE companies, billion pound properties and construction projects, and cutting edge engineering and pharmaceutical businesses.
Employing over 3,000 employees, and servicing 500 clients requires constant and ongoing legal support for the maintenance of contracts, whether those be written internally or issued to the Company by new clients.
Requirements and Responsibilities
1. To complete regular and exhaustive reviews of client contracts. Clauses and liabilities are becoming increasingly complex and high risk, so Company protection is a priority for the executive.
2. Supporting the HR and Commercial teams with the review and updating of internal contracts to ensure they reflect changing legislation and legal precedent.
3. Providing advice and direction to executive members and directors on general issues of legal consequence and consideration.
4. To assist with the development of improved document control systems, to better manage the changes to existing clients with historic, outdated, or inaccurate/inappropriate agreements.
5. To advise on best practice, and improved methods of working with contracts and legal obligations.
6. To provide input and guidance to the Company’s risk committee.
Support Provided
1. Regular and everyday access to the Managing Director, Commercial Director and other senior personnel.
2. Access to third party HR support from an external provider.
3. Training courses and development opportunities for personal and professional development.
4. Outside legal counsel for Trademark protection.
Skills, Experience, and Expectations
1. The right candidate will quickly become familiar with the legal and regulatory obligations of a company operating within the licensed security industry.
2. Experience in working internally, or in external support of services companies (or similar) would be of benefit.
3. Whilst direct like-for-like experience is not required, evidence of an ability to quickly learn and adapt to provide expert advice is necessary.
4. Adaptive and committed to the continuous improvement of the Company’s processes, future, and undertakings.
5. Committed to being and remaining familiar with impending and potential changes in the legal landscape of both British and Scottish business on all legislation (whether that be health and safety, financial, environmental etc.) as well as regulatory or legislative change within the licensed security industry.
6. Able to work flexibly across all areas of the business, supporting departments on projects from small local issues, to multi-million pound contract negotiations.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication, including being comfortable to present advice, guidance, or argument to a board of directors.
Summary
This is SecuriGroup’s second employment of an in-house legal counsel, following the recent retirement of our first dedicated appointment. As such, it is a unique opportunity for an individual to help shape the future of a fast-growing business. Salary Info: £70,000 FTE, working 2/3 days per week.
