This is an exciting opportunity in which you will manage the delivery of multiple Projects (concept-design-pricing-delivery-handover) for a programme of Billable Works (Projects), ensuring a high-quality output and that all works are delivered on time and within budget. You will deliver support to customers with technical, professional and specialist knowledge with minimal supervision and use clear communication to deliver technical solutions to customers and clients.
This role will include covering sites in Lichfield, Whittington, and Northfield, so includes company car/ car allowance.
Key Responsibilities as a Project Manager:
1. Oversee delivery of Billable Works (projects) in accordance with Government Regulatory and Statutory undertakings, complying with all Health & Safety and Environmental standards and policies.
2. Monitor contractors to ensure suitably qualified and experienced operatives are directed to relevant tasks to achieve safe working, timely delivery, and required quality; ensuring all performance indicators are consistently achieved.
3. Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure they are to an acceptable standard.
4. Ensure all works are delivered to the relevant H&S standards/rules.
5. Confer with DIO/MOD stakeholders to agree the requirement, manage the design and scope process to provide a tender package.
6. Work with the clients' commercial team to manage the tender process, review and evaluate technical proposals, and provide a customer price that is value for money (VFM).
7. Support end users and management in providing optimal solutions to customer requirements to resolve end user issues.
8. Deliver works to the MOD's carbon reduction and sustainability targets.
9. Manage cost and stakeholder expectation through excellent communication and sound commercial decisions to ensure value for money.
10. Work with all stakeholders to support the management and mitigation of contract risk.
11. Ensure appropriate work plans and budgets are in place to achieve programmes and financial commitments, whilst meeting the changing operational needs.
12. Progress tasks end to end through the Maximo IT management system.
13. Ensure all documentation relating to Billable Works are completed and distributed in a timely manner, including upload to the Sharepoint system.
Qualifications needed to be the successful candidate for the Project Manager position:
1. HND level qualification in Building/Civil Engineering or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
2. Management level qualification in Health & Safety and Environment (e.g. SMSTS).
3. Developed IT skills (e.g. Excel, Word etc.).
Demonstrable experience of supervising staff in Project Management including:
1. Managing contractors.
2. Stakeholder management.
3. Management of costs.
4. Planning, directing and controlling activities.
5. Management of Safe Systems of Work.
Experience of supervising site operations, including:
1. Planning, directing and controlling activities.
2. Agreeing scope and priorities of work.
3. Proactive performance management.
4. Ability to solve problems and make decisions.
This role as Project Manager will require you to pass SC Clearance.
