To be a key member of the spinal team and deliver consistent high-quality care to patients who present with spinal pain or pathologies. Adapting to the changing demands of a busy service. There is a requirement to use autonomous decision-making skills on a regular basis.
Main duties of the job
* Exercise evidence-based nursing intervention with clinical support and supervision from the team pertaining to patients with spinal pain and pathologies.
* Undertake training to clinically assess patients and perform interventional procedures as necessary.
* Participate in nurse-led clinics under the supervision of the Multi-disciplinary team.
* Be responsible for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care in consultation with the Specialist Nursing team.
* Demonstrate empathy and offer information and support for patients at diagnosis and throughout their journey.
* Be actively involved in formal/informal educational programmes to qualified nursing staff and students.
* Actively participate in the promotion of health education and prevention of illness.
* Linking in with the multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care.
* Follow department and Trust policy, and contribute to the development of nursing policy.
* Communicate effectively with external and internal agencies.
* Demonstrate commitment to IWL principles and flexible working patterns, to meet the needs of the service and staff.

* The post holder is expected to participate in all aspects of the patient pathway as appropriate and will be expected to perform delegated duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge. There is an expectation to act under their own initiative based on their training and current national and local guidelines.
* The post holder will provide care including history taking, clinical assessment, treatment, and evaluation of care. This will be under the guidance of a multi-disciplinary team.
