ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ELECTRICIAN
Key Responsibilities
* Be part of a small team of electricians within a busy Works Department under the supervision of the Lead Electrician.
* In support of the department's wide-ranging duties, a willingness to work beyond your own trade is expected.
PERSON SPECIFICATION AND KEY QUALITIES
The successful applicant:
* Must be an experienced electrician who will be able to work unsupervised as well as within a team.
* Should have successfully completed an electro-technical apprenticeship and be qualified to NVQ level 3 including AM2.
* 18th Edition BS7671 or hold 18th Edition BS7671 City and Guilds 2382 or EAL equivalent would also be desirable.
* Should hold an ECS Gold Card or equivalent, which would also be desirable but not essential.
* Should have C&G 2391 Testing and Inspection, which would be advantageous but not essential.
* Should be experienced with installing, commissioning, testing, servicing and maintaining domestic and commercial electrical systems all in accordance with the current regulations. It would be an advantage to have knowledge of fire alarms, heating controls, and network installations. The ability to work in occupied areas with care and sensitivity is essential.
In addition, applicants should have/be able to:
* A sound knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations/RAMS.
* The ability to plan and organise their own work.
* Understand the importance of customer satisfaction and good customer care.
* Be self-motivated, show initiative, and be able to offer solutions to problems encountered.
* Good IT skills (knowledge of PDA desirable).
