Juniper is a 20-bedded private patients ward that includes 4 high dependency beds. The ward cares for transplant, cardiology, and cardiothoracic surgical patients allowing you to gain experience within this specialty.

We are looking for Healthcare Assistants who will support our nursing team in meeting all patients' needs. The job will involve flexible working including nights and weekends. Main duties of the job
1. To provide and maintain excellent standards of nursing care to allocated group of patients, under the supervision of a registered nurse.
2. To carry out care and treatment tasks, delegated from professionally qualified staff, requiring a wide range of technical ability, numeracy and literacy skills as well as an excellent level of interpersonal skills.
3. To supervise less experienced/new Health Care Assistants in the clinical area ensuring patient-focused care is provided.
4. To provide any administrative and clerical support to the ward team.
5. To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any areas specified.
Job responsibilities
Patient/customer care (both direct and indirect)
1. Carry out tasks in delivering and supporting direct patient care with the support of a registered nurse.
2. Able to perform more complex aspects of patient care, some with indirect supervision, e.g., taking and recording observations, dressings under asepsis, taking of venous blood samples as directed.
3. Keep clinical areas clean and tidy and maintain a safe, pleasant environment.
4. Adhere to departmental and Directorate procedures for the use of supplies and equipment.
5. Assist in the restocking of supplies and maintenance of equipment.
6. Be aware of and adhere to the Trust Policies and Procedures.
7. Identify and report clinical risks to the ward manager.
8. Record and report all incidents/complaints involving staff, patients, and visitors.
9. To actively promote a healthy lifestyle for patients.
10. Participate in the Trust's appraisal and personal development plan schemes.
11. Assist with the supervision and teaching of pre-registration student nurses and Health Care assistants.
Person Specification
* Good level of English language demonstrated through written and verbal communication.
* Basic computer skills.
* Experience in recording patient information via an electronic system.
* Experience in working within a team.
* Previous health care assistant experience in a care setting.
