JOB TITLE: Live-in Health Care Assistant
LOCATION: Derby, Derbyshire
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Lead Manager / HR & Training Manager / Supervisor
REQUIREMENTS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide a Service of Care to service users to enable them to lead as independent a lifestyle as possible. Care duties will therefore include assisting the service user with the following activities and in so doing will always observe and respect the service user's dignity, privacy and independence as far as practical:
1. Personal Care:
1. Dressing and undressing / preparing the service user for Day Care or trips out.
2. Washing / bathing / showering / shaving / grooming / cleaning teeth.
3. Hair care (washing / brushing).
4. Nail care (fingernails only).
5. Toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene.
6. Continence management.
7. Care of pressure sores (under appropriate nursing supervision).
8. Getting in and out of bed.
9. Assisting with the use of Aids to Daily Living / Rehabilitation Aids, as required.
10. Helping with rehabilitation programs, as prescribed by Healthcare professionals.
11. Day / evening / night sitting services, as required.
2. Medication Administration: assisting the service user to take prescribed medication.
3. Dietary Care:
1. Preparation of snacks and meals according to the service user’s likes / dislikes.
2. Assisting with feeding, as required.
4. Domestic / Household Services:
1. General cleaning duties, to include cleaning / dusting / vacuuming / polishing.
2. Bed-making.
3. Clearing refuse and rubbish.
5. Monitoring and reporting changes in clients' health condition.
6. Following client’s care plan.
7. To conform to all Policies and Procedures laid down by the Organisation detailed within the Company’s employee handbook and Health & Safety handbook in respect of carrying out these Care Duties and in other administrative aspects of the business, as relevant.
8. To participate as directed by the Care Services Manager / Supervisor in Induction Training and regular In-service Training program.
9. To maintain accurate, concise, and timely records of service user care, diary sheets, time sheets and mileage sheets.
10. To participate in Staff, Team and Quality Management Review Meetings as directed by the Care Services Manager /Supervisor.
11. To report back to the Care Services Manager / Supervisor on any aspect of service user care that he/she feels warrants investigation or urgent action.
12. To participate in reviews of service users’ Care Plans as required.
