What you will do in your working day
Please note that this is an apprenticeship position and therefore anyone with more than six months professional experience working as a data analyst or who holds a degree or Master’s degree in a subject such as Maths or Data Science will not be eligible.
You will also need to commit to completing a Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship.
Specifically you'll be working on data from our dredging operations which could include reporting on the performance and efficiency of our fleet operations which could include:
* Big Ocean Data (BOD) - Monitoring and data analysis of UK & Europe dredging fleet on BOD, exception reporting to show landings at sites of particular interest or new sites, on demand reporting of tonnages delivered by wharf, vessel or port for specified periods.
* Monthly reporting to GM and MD of tonnes delivered by month and YTD.
* Monthly analysis of fuel consumption, tonnes dredged, miles steamed and reporting of various KPI’s such as CO2 emissions, fuel/cargo, fuel/tonne of cargo delivered etc.
* Monthly analysis & reporting of fuel & CO2 to Brett wharves by all vessels, calculate average monthly & YTD CO2 figure by wharf and operator.
* Discussion and reporting of relevant company data/information at Monthly Marine Management Meetings, taking and writing up of meeting minutes.
* Assist GM in production of Monthly Reports to show Health & Safety data and KPI’s – maintain and manage data spreadsheets and produce graphical outputs.
* Reporting of quarterly landing statistics to Gov.uk via online portal
Report weekly cargo numbers to GM via excel spreadsheet of data/graph.
* Supply weekly cargo ticket copies to accounts dept for billing.
* Customs declarations for imported & exported cargoes.
You
First and foremost you must be interested in working support the Britannia Aggregates team to improve our data and analytics capability.
* Proven interest in data analysis (this could be from formal studies, self study or the workplace)
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written as well as being able to present findings
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Detail-oriented and strong attention to accuracy and completeness
* Exceptional problem-solving skills
* Willingness to learn and continuously improve technical and professional skills
* Competency with Microsoft office applications including Excel
Some experience of using data tools (e.g. SQL, Python, visualisation tools such as Qlik / Power BI / Tableau etc) would be an advantage but not essential.
The training you will be getting
As part of the Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship standard, you’ll be registered as a member with the British Computer Society and be on a fast track to an industry recognised qualification and your dedicated industry coach will support you through a blended approach that will include remote, in person, 1-2-1 and group learning.
