About the role
The ideal candidate for this role should be available to start in February 2025.
As a key member of the Group Innovation Team, reporting to the Head of Technical Development, the Facilities Manager is responsible for the delivery of a first-class function at the Organisation’s Global Innovation and R&D centre in Redditch, Birmingham.
The Group Innovation team at DS Smith was established in 2019, with the mandate to initiate, develop and support the deployment of breakthrough, next-generation packaging innovations that can deliver significant value to our customers and the company.
The responsibilities will be varied to encompass all aspects of site management; H&S, Purchasing, Office Administration, Contract Management, IT and Meeting Coordination.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised, proactive, have a high attention to detail and be able to use their initiative. They will also enjoy working in an exciting and fast paced environment, and within a state-of-the-art facility with a multi-disciplinary team.
Key responsibilities:
Health and Safety lead at site:
* Responsible for ensuring that all employees and visitors are adhering to strict safety guidelines regarding use of PPE.
* Coordinating all audits and tests inc. fire safety, water, evacuation drills etc.
IT on site:
* Responsible for the setup of PCs for new starters, and coordinating any updates or repairs required.
* Ordering of new equipment.
* Contracts with DSS IT team.
* Wifi, networks, shared servers.
* Colleague Services.
* Manage the effective delivery of all colleague services including visitors, meeting rooms, catering and facilities workshops.
* Work closely with DS Smith IT on ensuring all workplace technology (meeting rooms, desktop, applications) are in full operating order at all times.
* Managing the site visits and team’s calendars, inc room and EV charging space booking.
* Supporting with arranging travel & accommodation for visitors and team members.
Managing all Supplier Contracts and liaising with respective contacts:
* Security, Transport, Cleaning, Maintenance, Recycling and waste collection, Landlord, FLTs, Pest Control, Procurement/Purchasing.
* SAP account holder for the raising of POs for GI and processing and payment of invoices etc.
* Ordering raw material for tests.
* Setting up of new suppliers for GI on payment systems.
* Documentation of site expenditure.
* Office Administration, Managing incoming calls, Receipt of goods at site.
* P Card holder.
About you
* Previous experience working in the packaging/manufacturing industry or logistics is preferable.
* Experience in similar facilities manager/coordinator role.
* Previous front of house or client facing roles advantageous.
* Experience using SAP or other similar purchasing systems would be beneficial.
* Cost management experience, recording and documenting expenditure.
* An understanding of H&S requirements for a manufacturing facility.
* NEBOSH/ IOSH qualification preferable.
* Knowledge of Microsoft applications, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.
