An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse within Respiratory Medicine at the Northern General Hospital. We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced nurse to assist the Senior Charge Nurse in managing Robert Hadfield 1, an acute respiratory inpatient ward.

Main duties of the job
We currently have a substantive position of Sister/Charge Nurse on RH1 ward. This is a 28 bedded Respiratory ward. The post holder will deliver high quality care, ensuring individual patients' needs are assessed, care planned, implemented and evaluated regularly. Care will be patient centred and patients will be encouraged to participate in the planning of their care using evidence-based research practices.
Exercise judgement in assessing wide-ranging and complex patient problems. Agree solutions, ensure and promote options to enable the delivery of optimum patient care. Ensure that an effective discharge procedure is planned and actioned, so patients are discharged safely and in a timely manner. The successful applicant would be involved in the routine management of this unit.

GRaDE Care Group is comprised of 3 clinical directorates:
1. Diabetes and Endocrinology
2. Gastroenterology and Hepatology
3. Respiratory Medicine
All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campuses although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital. The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus. Outpatient services operate on both campuses and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
* Possess or working towards a degree.
Experience
* Experience at AFC band 5 (or equivalent)
* Experience of caring for patients with Respiratory conditions.
* Evidence of delivering education and training to patients and staff.
* Evidence of working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
* Evidence of leadership and management in a healthcare setting
* Evidence of applying research and audit in practice.
* Evidence of successfully managing & evaluating change
* Experience of looking after patients with respiratory conditions
Further Training
* IV drug administration competency.
* Evidence of professional development.
* Ability to apply healthcare governance principles.
* Leadership and motivational skills.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year (Per annum pro rata for part time staff)
