Coveberry Oldbury, part of The CareTech Group, is a registered locked rehabilitation Hospital with 13 en-suite bedrooms and 2 independent transitional flats providing supportive rehabilitation for men with Learning difficulties, ASC and/or mental health diagnosis. Many of our patient’s may require to be detained under the MHA for forensic risks, deprivation of liberty safeguarding to help keep them safe from harm and require a structured and safe community setting.
The average age of the patients here at Coveberry Oldbury is 35 years of age. Whilst there is a MDT and qualified nurses in place to provide the individual’s identified treatment needs and outcomes supported by PBS approach.
Patients enjoy accessing the community, playing pool, woodwork, lots of arts and crafts (in fact they were winners of The CareTech Group Arts and Crafts competition earlier this year!), pet therapy, football and sometimes creating wonderful food in our large kitchen, or simply hanging out playing computer games!
Coveberry, Oldbury is situated in a residential area in Oldbury, there is free staff parking and there are easy accessible transport links to Birmingham City Centre, Wolverhampton and Dudley.
We are looking to appoint a Cook to join the team to carry out duties to the required standards as efficiently and effectively as possible. As part of the kitchen team you will provide a high quality service providing safe and nutritious food to patients, staff and visitors in compliance with the Food Safety Regulations.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* To prepare and cook all meals.
* To ensure that the planned menus are followed.
* To ensure that all food preparation plant, equipment and utensils are used safely at all times.
* To maintain an up to date knowledge of the food and hygiene regulations and their application within the unit.
* To check deliveries and arrange for correct storage of all foodstuffs.
* To ensure that cross infection is minimised by discouraging other staff and visitors from entering the food preparation area.
* Whilst on duty, to ensure that the requirements of Environmental Health and CQC regarding food handling are met.
* To maintain a working knowledge of Conditions of Service, Health and Safety, Fire Regulations, Infection Control and all other appropriate policies of the home.
* To attend and/or allocated training as required
* To support the unit's Quality Assurance and improvement initiatives.
* To undertake such other duties as may be required appropriate to the grade of the post.
